A lot of our freedom, love and power is in the shadow work.
I like to call it, the unloved stuff. And to be honest, this is what I love the most. Shadow work excites me. This is where all the juice is. This is where you get to feel and experience actual transformation.
Every time I delved deep into my shadows, accepted and reclaimed whats there, I have always...ALWAYS come out more liberated, more free and more loving.
When you start your healing and transformation journey, this is really what you are doing. You are learning to love what was once unloved...by you.
Even though this is now becoming very common to do one's shadow or inner work, I still notice a lot of people resisting this. And thats ok, I get it. So here's a few reasons why I think that is.
It's scary
Hells yeah its scary....at first. It is literally what we are truly terrified of. The unknown inside of us. And because of the unease we feel about this, we constantly look outside of ourselves to distract from it...but then we find things outside of us that scare us too! Aghhhh! But guess what? Thats because it's a direct reflection of what we are believing about and within our
shadow. Until we choose to look within, we will constantly meet our shadow outside of us.
It requires a lot of honesty
Yep. We gotta be real about what we feel. And that includes our fear of the shadow itself. You gotta be real honest with yourself, constantly. And be honest about not being honest! In a world where being dishonest about how you really feel and what you really think, is the norm and even encouraged (that was my experience), this can be super challenging at first. But once you get a taste of the freedom that comes from being honest with yourself, you literally want more and it gets easier.
It's Painful
Yeah there's no sugar coating this one. It can be. Especially if we are holding very deep unloving beliefs. When we have emotional pain, often it has extra intensity because of the judgements and beliefs we have around pain itself. In my experience, once I shifted these, I could access the pain with more love and awareness, therefore lessening the intensity. That's why I chose Unconditional Love Healing as my modality. It is this very vibration that allows the pain, meets it, releases it and therefore transforms it. Over time, the more you are ok with your emotions and when you release the subsequent beliefs, the less painful it becomes.
It's triggering
Yes! And thats where it's at! Your triggers are an awesome indication that you are one step closer to healing what you are deeply holding onto. We are used to being triggered and then usually have some kind of coping pattern around it. Once you start choosing a healing path, these become your indicators that you are ready to claim a part of you and release what no longer serves you. You will start to feel more empowered in this process and it will become a natural response to own your trigger and process it to find the hidden gold in the shadows.
Bad-ness and wrong-ness
As i mentioned previously, the judgements we have around our pain and shadow are often what causes the most pain in the first place, and therefore making it easier to resist looking into this "stuff'. A lot of what gets thrown into the shadow is there because we have, on some level, agreed and are believing that this feeling or thought we have is bad or wrong and shouldn't be there. Here's the good news. Believing something is bad or wrong, is a belief. This can be processed and healed and aligned, just like everything else. If you are willing to see things from a more loving perspective, you will feel a natural compassion and understanding for yourself and the situation, therefore allowing it to transformed.
Isn't it just dark stuff?
Yes it is, but not in the way you think. Its unconscious, which means the light of our awareness cannot perceive it yet from where we are. If you wanna get real deep (and high lol) with me for a sec I'll give you another perspective. Because we are awesome emanations of the divine, in order to have a "separate" experience human experience, we need to throw a proverbial veil over the magnitude of our infinite self. When we do that, we forget and can't see the whole picture. It literally creates a "half" experience, which explains why we feel so incomplete as human most of our lives. And because of this forgetting, this is what leads to painful experiences and what we judge as "evil" in the world. Our unconscious reaction to the not knowing of this intentional experience of separation, and believing it to be real is what gives rise to an array of experiences that appear to oppose love and light. So what we are really seeking, is wholeness, within ourselves and within the collective, and it is the part of us that was veiled over that gave us our experiences in order to transform them and appreciate our amazing power to love and be free. We are really seeking to unify what was once unconscious and re-experience the connection and knowing of our infinite nature. Isn't that cool?
So whats the answer?
Unconditional love.
Thats right. Unconditional Love is the vibe that restores us back to wholeness. Because it loves everything. It's the vibe that shows us the power and purpose of the shadow so we can release our compassion and understanding of it. So we can embrace it and transform it and restore it back to the love it came from.
This may seem fanciful. But its the truth. I've experienced it, and so have many others.
This is what has led me to really loving the shadow stuff. So much so, that I'm quite passionate about it and now find it fun to uncover the power in it.
Doing the inner work and loving the shadow is where it's at. And I mean, genuinely doing it. All you need is a willingness to love and everything will flow.
